Curry for breakfast

Curry for breakfast

This tasty vegan dish; Chana Aloo (chickpea and potato) is traditionally eaten at breakfast time with achar (pickle), paratha and halwa - a toasted sweet semolina dish.  Thanks to our friends at Aagrah you can give this a whirl...

This recipe uses the Achari Tarka base, but you can use your favourite flavour Tarka jar too.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 325g new potatoes (cut into halves)
  • 240g chickpeas
  • 1 pepper (sliced)
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Handful coriander
  • 1 jar Achari Tarka base
  • 70ml water

METHOD:

  1. Heat the oil in a pan and add the potatoes, pepper and chickpeas. Stir well and allow to cook for a couple of minutes.
  2. Add the jar of Achari Tarka base and add 70ml of water. Bring it to the boil and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve with fragrant boiled rice or freshly made paratha.
